Rita Verroca Quilter’s Academy Retreat
We are so excited to offer a new retreat experience to you at the Wakulla Springs Lodge! Save the dates March 16th-21st, 2025!
Wakulla Springs has been part of Tallahassee’s history since it was built in 1935 by Edward Ball. It has been the backdrop for several famous movies, including Tarzan (1941).
The retreat offers two flexible options: a 3-day session or a full 6-day experience. If your schedule allows for 4 or 5 days instead of all 6, we are happy to accommodate you. During days 1-3 (March 16–18), you can choose between learning beginning appliqué on ‘The President’s Wreath’ or creating an antique baby quilt. Days 4-6 (March 19–21) feature options such as Charlotte Gillingham blocks, a patriotic block, or individual study on any of the days.
Eager to make significant progress on the baby quilt? Enroll for the full 6 days to maximize your experience. Whatever your preference, we’ll tailor the retreat to suit your needs!
Prices include class fees, continental breakfast, lunch buffet, beverage service each day, an afternoon break then dinner (on your own) in the “Great Gatsby” dining room. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING YOUR OWN LODGE RESERVATIONS. The Lodge is around 25 miles from Tallahassee-so unless you drive, this is your best option. In addition, we will make sure you find time for a glass bottom boat ride that made this venue one of the most unique in the world (included in your fees)! We will pick you up at the Tallahassee airport and deliver you to the Lodge upon your arrival and will make sure you get back to the airport for your flight home!
Class will start at 9-and go until noon, then restart at 1:30 and end at 5:30. After that, you can roam the grounds, relax in the most unique, beautiful lobby, take a short hike, and share your experiences of the day with old and new friends. “Pajama Sewing” after dinner is also fun!
Then, when you wish, order a gourmet dinner (not included in the fee you pay) and then relax in your room, similar to what the patrons of the 30’s and 40 ‘s enjoyed. There will be more information to come soon, but in the meantime, please feel free to reach out to the email address below for any additional information and questions you may have. We invite you to explore the links below to fall in love with Wakulla Springs Lodge and its history!
